Flagstar bank illegally foreclosed on our home. My husband and myself both lost our jobs & tried without success to get Flagstar to modify our loan.

When we were 2 months behind we tried to continue making payments which they accepted and then returned the equal amount making it impossible for us to catch up. They finally went to mediation with us and reached an agreement but they then called me at home & advised they would not honor their end & were proceeding with foreclosure. We lost our home due to being 2 months behind on our loan & them continually not accepting payments even though they supposedly were working on a loan modification. We had called, written, called, faxed requested documents continually, mailed them in certified mail, tried everything but they were unwilling to work with us at all.

We had both lost our jobs & we waited months to get approved until finally we were advised they were foreclosing. They had calls go directly to 'full mailboxes' where no message could be left. They admitted to being over 6 months behind on modification requests. They have been found guilty of illegal practices but how does this help us now?

We would like to get some of the money that they were fined by the government but don't know how. They out and out lied in mediation saying they did not hold our loan.

Can anyone help me? Sherrylrcomer@yahoo.com

I agree. We didn't get any money from Flagstar, they only settled a few cases.

Most of us got nothing and our credit is screwed. To join the class action suit contact Mary 650-283-3093

Hello Sherryl, I'm not sure if you've been given good information regarding the settlement with Flagstar Bank? The settlement was actually much more than 10 million, it was actually 37.5 million, with 20 million of that money going directly back to us customers that lost our homes due to their illegal practices.

For some reason or another, only 2,000 of us will paid from that 20 million dollar fine. We each get 10,000 dollars a piece. I received a check dated October 02, 2015 which came with a letter from CFPB stating that it was a Civil Penalty and I had to cash the check by December 31, 2015. Why I got one while others didn't, I don't know?

I actually called CFPB which had their number on the paperwork and asked about the check, they didn't want to give any advice or information other than I could cash the check and it wasn't taking my right away from pursuing personal legal action such as moving expenses and lost equity, ect. I hope you were one of us who received payment of some kind.

You can contact me at robloe30@yahoo.com if you need any more information, I will be more than happy to help in any way I can since we were both swindled out of our homes! Good luck!

My husband and I lost our home too, due to no help from Flagstar Bank. We began asking for help in 2009 and was told to fill out forms and send in documentation, but did not hear back from Flagstar.

We kept calling them but was given the run around.

We decided to try again, repeated the process of filling out forms and sending in documentation only to be turned down for help. No modification.

Hi Sherryl. I hope they get this *** straightened out soon.

They're doing it to me as well. I have been a customer of theirs for the last 15 years. Never had any problems until I asked for a Refi or Loan Modification. That was 4 months ago, got a letter a few days ago from the County Sherrif's Office stating that I have Foreclosure Proceedings next month.

The cowards didn't even have the gall to tell me over the phone or through email! $10 Million fine??? Should have been a lot more..

Like maybe 10 Billion! Then have to pay all of us that have been wronged, Back our full monies!

I actually spoke with someone at Flagstar recently and they denied that they were deceitful & managing foreclosures illegally. Really then why did they get fined 10 million dollars?
